Week overview: Oct 26 – Nov 2, 2026 (Week 45)
A heavyweight week on the production, marked by serious evolutions in digital digging platforms, busting open classic samplers, and rare mid-nineties underground heat returning to physical formats.
News:
Tracklib has rolled out version 3.0 of its platform, delivering dedicated stems and an in-browser player across virtually the entire catalogue, built-in pitch and chop tools, and an expanded stash of nearly one million royalty-free sounds. Even better for sample heads, clearance fees are out the window entirely under the newly minted Create subscription tier.
The hardware beat battle is heating up as Behringer sets its sights on golden-era drum-machine legacy with the Kick and SP1200x, while Akai broke tradition by open-sourcing the codebase for both the MPC Sample and Sample Keys.
Opening up the hood lets beatmakers and developers bypass factory restrictions, paving the way for third-party firmware and community-cooked OS upgrades.
Dutch turntable technician DJ TLM came through with a nineteen-track instrumental beat tape, The Last Mohican - Chapter One, pressed up on cassette via Always In Yellow Music. Mastered for the system by Statinski and laced with cuts straight from TLM, the physical drop was celebrated with an in-store session at Amsterdam's own Platypus Records.
Powerhouse 90's Tapes delivered a fully remastered physical treatment of The Deacon Legacy's mid-nineties Queens staple Life's Waterz across vinyl, CD, and tape, packaged clean with updated visuals by Gordon. The drop landed right on time with Ant delivering his latest mixtape excursion, Another Joint Vol. 2, under his DJ Dusty Platter alias.
New releases:
The Deacon Legacy — Life's Waterz
DJ Dusty Platter — Another Joint Volume 2
V.A. — Beat Maker Ethics Volume 1 (due 20 November 2026)
