Rumors on the street that Pete Rock and Rob O. have been teasing on IG that it’s the 30th anniversary of INI’s Center of Attention / The Life I Live.

I still remember seeing what looked like a bootleg copy hanging behind the counter at Fat Beats Amsterdam back in the day. Even then, the tracks were legendary—"Grown Man Sport" and "Props" (the B-side to "Fakin' Jax") are all-time favorites of mine.

It feels like we’ve been waiting 30 years for a proper official release, and seeing that test press video on Instagram makes it look like the time has finally come!

I’m 100% grabbing a copy. Fingers crossed it comes with all the promised extras and remixes, a nice gatefold jacket, and full instrumentals (even if that's asking for a lot!). I'll probably buy two: one to spin and one to frame on the wall.

Hip-hop group from Mount Vernon, New York, consisting of Rob-O, Marco Polo (Polo Dada aka Jolomite), DJ Booda-Khan, Ras (I Love H.I.M.) and Pete Rock's brother Grap Luva.

Signed to Pete Rock's Elektra imprint "Soul Brother Records" in 1994 but only managed to release the 'Fakin' Jax' 12" before Elektra and Pete parted ways.

The album they recorded, "The Life I Live", was eventually released in 2003 by BBE/Rapster. However, the BBE version is just another bootlegged version of the album with the wrong tracklist & mistitled "Center Of Attention". For almost 30 years, none of the physical releases nor the digital were published in agreement with the group.
